Authorities in southwest England announced on Friday that a 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of former politician Ann Widdecombe. This follows the discovery of her body at her residence in Dartmoor, Devon, where she was found with serious injuries.
Details of the Investigation into Ann Widdecombe's Death
According to Detective Chief Inspector Ilona Rosson, the murder inquiry is in its early stages, but they are moving rapidly. "Our murder enquiry is in its early stages but moving at a significant pace," Rosson stated. The police have confirmed that the suspect is a British citizen and is currently in custody.
The police were called to Widdecombe's address around midday on Thursday, where they discovered her lifeless body. Initial inquiries suggest that the incident is not being treated as a case of terrorism or political motivation, as stated by Matt Longman from Devon and Cornwall Police.
