A recent poll conducted by health research firm KFF found that adults in the US who frequently seek health advice from AI chatbots are more likely to believe in vaccine misinformation. The survey, conducted in May with a representative sample of 2,480 US adults, highlighted a concerning correlation between AI usage and false beliefs about vaccines.
Correlation Between AI Use and Vaccine Myths
The KFF poll indicated that individuals who rely on AI tools for health information are significantly more inclined to believe myths such as the idea that vaccines cause autism. Additionally, many respondents believed that the measles vaccine poses a greater risk than the disease itself.
This connection persisted even after accounting for various demographic factors, including age, race, education, and political affiliation. The findings suggest that misinformation may be exacerbated by the adoption of AI technology in health-related inquiries.
