Unseasonal snow has blanketed parts of the north-western United States, while eastern states like New York and Washington DC brace for temperatures soaring to 40°C by the end of the week. A strong cold front swept down from the northern Pacific on Friday, leading to a significant drop in temperatures across the region.
Cold Front Brings Unusual Weather
Since the arrival of the cold front, temperatures have plummeted by 5-10°C below the seasonal average across western states, with some areas experiencing drops of over 10°C. This abrupt change follows a period of high summer temperatures and drought conditions.
The weather pattern is expected to persist throughout much of the coming week, leaving residents in the west to cope with unseasonably low temperatures.
Heatwave Looms Over Eastern States
In stark contrast, the eastern states are preparing for a significant heatwave. By the end of the week, cities like New York and Washington DC could see temperatures reaching up to 40°C. This extreme heat poses potential health risks and calls for precautionary measures.
