On Friday, thousands of displaced individuals in Lebanon began returning home, but many face challenges due to rampant destruction affecting their residences. With significant damage reported in various regions, numerous returnees find themselves trapped in displacement centers.
Returnees Struggle with Devastation
As families arrive back in their home areas, they are met with the stark reality of extensive devastation. Buildings lie in ruins, and essential services are severely disrupted. Local authorities are overwhelmed, making it difficult for returnees to find immediate shelter.
The situation is particularly dire in regions like Tripoli and Beirut, where the post-crisis landscape is marked by wreckage and uncertainty. Many individuals are left with no viable options for housing.
Displacement Centers Overcrowded
Displacement centers throughout Lebanon are currently overcrowded, hosting thousands who have not been able to return home. According to humanitarian organizations, these centers are struggling to provide adequate support for the influx of returnees.
