US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that the recent wave of US military strikes against Iran is a form of "retribution" following Iranian retaliation. This escalation comes amid rising tensions in the region, particularly after Iran launched attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar.
Iranian military casualties reported
According to the Iranian judiciary's Mizan News Agency, three members of the Revolutionary Guards were killed in the latest US strikes. The Iranian government previously reported that a total of 14 people were killed and 78 injured during the attacks, though it did not specify if these were military personnel or civilians.
In retaliation, Iran fired 10 ballistic missiles at Jordan's Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Azraq, which serves as a launch point for US military operations in the region. Air raid sirens were activated in Jordan as a precautionary measure.
Strikes near Bushehr nuclear facility
Reports indicate that US airstrikes targeted areas near the Bushehr nuclear power plant in southern Iran. Local officials confirmed that explosions occurred in several locations, including military bases and civilian infrastructure. Ehsan Jahanian, deputy governor of Bushehr province, stated that there were no immediate reports of casualties from these strikes.
