Teni Melidonian has exited her role as chief Oscars officer at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) effective immediately, as confirmed by CEO Bill Kramer on Wednesday. Melidonian will continue as a consultant for the next year. This change comes as the Academy prepares for significant shifts ahead of the Oscars' 100th ceremony in 2028 and its planned transition from ABC to YouTube in 2029.
Restructuring at the Academy of Motion Pictures
The organizational changes are part of a broader personnel restructuring aimed at aligning teams with the Academy's immediate and long-term goals. “It is critical that we align our teams in a way that supports both our immediate priorities and our long-term vision,” Kramer stated. The restructuring is expected to enhance collaboration and efficiency within the organization.
As part of the reorganization, member screenings and awards ticketing will now be overseen by Meredith Shea, while awards production and talent relations will be managed by Jennifer Davidson. This new structure is designed to bring related functions closer together, fostering strategic alignment.
Teni Melidonian's Contributions to the Academy
Melidonian has been with the Academy for over 20 years, playing a crucial role in the organization's initiatives and partnerships, particularly with Disney, which has held broadcasting rights for the Oscars. In her most recent role, she was instrumental in connecting AMPAS with Disney and managing the Academy's public image.
