A Ryanair flight from Thessaloniki to Bavaria had to return shortly after takeoff on Friday when a passenger window broke, causing a man to be partly sucked out of the aircraft. The incident occurred on a Boeing 737-800 shortly after departure, prompting immediate emergency measures.
Details of the Ryanair Flight Incident
Travelers reported hearing a loud bang during the flight to Memmingen Airport, followed by the sudden shattering of the window pane. Oxygen masks deployed from the ceiling as chaos unfolded in the cabin. Witnesses described how the passenger, a Serbian tourist, had his head and shoulders protruding from the broken window.
One witness recounted, "His head and shoulders were sticking out of the broken window," adding that some passengers screamed while others, including the man's wife, worked to pull him back inside. Thanks to his seat belt, he was not fully ejected from the aircraft, aiding in the rescue.
Medical Response and Aftermath
The injured passenger was quickly transported to a hospital in Thessaloniki where he was treated for abrasions but was reported to be in good condition. Ryanair confirmed that the flight returned to Thessaloniki shortly after the incident, stating, "a passenger window became dislodged during the flight." The airline assured that the plane landed normally and medical assistance was provided.
