Joanna Pettet, the talented actress known for her roles in 'The Group' and 'Casino Royale', passed away on Tuesday at the age of 83. Her friend and former manager Pam DuBois confirmed that Pettet died at Temecula Valley Hospital in California, marking a poignant anniversary as her son, Damien Cord, died 31 years earlier.

Pettet's career was marked by significant performances, including her portrayal of Kay Strong in 'The Group' (1966), adapted from Mary McCarthy's novel. In this film, she depicted a character whose life is overshadowed by a tumultuous marriage to an alcoholic playwright, played by Larry Hagman.
In 'Casino Royale' (1967), Pettet took on the role of Mata Bond, the daughter of David Niven's James Bond. Her performance included a memorable dance sequence in a Buddhist-themed temple, showcasing her versatility and charm.
Television and Broadway Appearances
Beginning her career in the early 1960s, Pettet appeared in three Broadway comedies before transitioning to film and television. She had notable roles in Rod Serling's 'Night Gallery' and a recurring character on 'Knots Landing' as detective Janet Baines.
