The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, opening on September 22 in Los Angeles, is providing free annual passes and an early preview for residents of the 90037 ZIP code. This initiative aims to acknowledge the community that has witnessed the museum's construction over the past eight years.
Details of the Lucas Museum's Opening
Located at the northern boundary of the 90037 area within Exposition Park, the $1 billion, 300,000-square-foot museum will showcase over 1,300 objects and feature 11 acres of landscaped grounds. CEO Tracey Bates stated, “We wanted to make sure the neighbors that have been seeing the museum built from the ground up for the past eight years are the first ones inside.”
Community Impact and Accessibility
The 90037 ZIP code has more than 17,000 households, with a significant portion of the predominantly Hispanic and African American population living below the poverty line. Bates emphasized the museum's commitment to the local community, saying, “Our gardens and public spaces are really their backyard now. We want to give them reasons to visit.”
