Israeli airstrikes in Gaza on July 12, 2026, have resulted in the deaths of at least five Palestinians, as reported by Gaza’s Health Ministry. Among the deceased is a nine-year-old girl, Tala Abu Matar, who was killed during an attack on a tent encampment in the Al-Bureij refugee camp. The violence raises concerns about the ongoing conflict and the violation of a ceasefire.
Details of the Recent Attacks in Gaza
On Sunday, a drone strike targeted a blacksmith’s shop in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City, killing four individuals and injuring another. According to officials at al-Shifa hospital, the casualties were immediately taken there for treatment. The Israeli military confirmed the strike, stating it aimed at “terrorist infrastructure” but did not provide further details.
The violence follows an earlier incident on Friday, where a Palestinian man succumbed to injuries from Israeli fire near the Al-Bureij camp. Another individual died from wounds inflicted by a drone strike east of Khan Younis, highlighting the ongoing hostilities in the region.
Ongoing Conflict and Ceasefire Violations
Despite a ceasefire established in October 2023 between Israel and Hamas, airstrikes continue in Gaza, resulting in a significant number of casualties. Health ministry data indicates that since the ceasefire, at least 1,098 Palestinians have been killed, and 3,535 have been wounded. The situation remains precarious as Israeli forces have reportedly expanded their control over approximately 80 percent of Gaza.
