Landmark Framework for Reparatory Justice Established
A significant milestone in the pursuit of justice has been achieved at a recent conference held in Ghana, where leaders from Africa and the Caribbean came together to adopt a transformative global framework for reparatory justice. This initiative emphasizes the importance of recognizing the historical injustices stemming from the transatlantic slave trade.
Formal Apologies Demanded
During the conference in Accra, which marked the first major event following the United Nations' resolution identifying the trafficking of enslaved Africans as a severe crime against humanity, heads of state and government officials collectively endorsed a comprehensive 19-point roadmap. This roadmap includes a call for formal apologies from nations that profited from the transatlantic slave trade.
