Ange Postecoglou has been appointed as the new head coach of Al-Nassr, the Saudi Pro League champions, on a two-year deal. This announcement comes as Postecoglou seeks to revive his career following a tumultuous period in the Premier League. The club confirmed his appointment in a statement, expressing wishes for success in his new role.
Postecoglou's Career Journey
Previously, Postecoglou managed Tottenham Hotspur, where he led the team to Europa League glory in 2025. However, his tenure ended abruptly when he was sacked just two weeks later after finishing 17th in the Premier League. This followed a difficult stint at Nottingham Forest during the 2025-26 season, which lasted only 40 days.
During his brief time at Nottingham, Postecoglou failed to secure any wins, suffering six defeats in his first eight matches. His coaching experience also includes a successful period with the Australia men's national team from 2013 to 2017, where he built a reputation for developing young talent.
Al-Nassr's Recent Success
Al-Nassr, known for their competitive edge in the Saudi Pro League, clinched the title last season, aided by the star power of Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo played a pivotal role in their triumph, securing the championship on the final day of the season under former manager Jorge Jesus, who stepped down after the victory.
