Will Jordan made history on July 11, 2026, by becoming New Zealand's record try-scorer with a remarkable hat-trick in a decisive 47-17 victory over Italy during the Nations Championship at the Wellington Regional Stadium. With this performance, Jordan surpassed Doug Howlett's previous record, bringing his total to 50 tries in 56 Tests.
Reflecting on his achievement, Jordan stated, "It's special. I think back to when I was a kid, practising my chip-and-chase in the back yard. To think I'd be here today, it's hugely humbling. I've been part of some great teams over the last seven years and, in turn, I hope I've inspired some kids to practise their chip-and-chase, and dream big."
All Blacks dominate Italy in Nations Championship
The All Blacks showcased their attacking prowess with a total of seven tries against Italy. In addition to Jordan's three tries, Sam Darry, Cam Roigard, Ethan de Groot, and Tupou Vaa'i also crossed the try line. Italy managed to score two tries through Tommaso Menoncello and Leonardo Marin, but their efforts were hindered by the dismissal of Niccolo Cannone.
Cannone received a yellow card for headbutting Roigard in the 51st minute, which was later upgraded to a red card by the television match official. This pivotal moment shifted the momentum further in favor of the All Blacks.
