Small-Business Sentiment Declines Amid Economic Pressures
In recent weeks, optimism among small-business owners in the United States has significantly waned. With escalating fuel costs and persistent inflation, many entrepreneurs are facing mounting challenges that are impacting their confidence levels. The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has reported a drop in its Small Business Optimism Index, which fell by 0.6 points to 95.3 in May.
Labor Shortages Add to Business Struggles
Compounding the issue, 29% of small-business owners have indicated they have unfilled job openings, marking the lowest rate since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This shortage of labor is creating additional hurdles for businesses already grappling with rising operational costs.
