A new heatwave is set to impact the UK starting this weekend, with temperatures potentially reaching 33C or 34C in some regions, according to the UK Health Security Agency. The heatwave will affect the Midlands, East Anglia, and extend down to southern England.
Forecast for the Upcoming Heatwave
As high pressure builds from the Azores, temperatures in southern England will gradually rise throughout the weekend. The peak heat is expected during the latter half of the week across England and Wales. Areas in the south and east are likely to see temperatures surpass 30C, while northern regions may experience mid to high 20s.
Weather models suggest this hot spell could extend into mid-July. Although these temperatures may not exceed the record-breaking heatwave of June, the duration is expected to be significant.
Health Alerts Issued Amid Rising Temperatures
The UK Health Security Agency has issued yellow heat health alerts for several regions, including the East Midlands, West Midlands, and London. These alerts take effect from 12:00 BST on Saturday and remain valid until 20:00 on Saturday 11 July.
