Two people were killed and at least six others injured in a mass shooting at the Salsa on St. Clair festival in Toronto on Saturday night. According to Toronto Police, the incident occurred near St. Clair Avenue West and Arlington Avenue, where the suspects remain at large. Authorities have secured the scene and advised the public to avoid the area.
Details of the Toronto Shooting Incident
The shooting took place during Canada’s largest Latin street festival, which was attended by thousands. Toronto Police Deputy Chief Frank Barredo reported that there was initial concern about an active shooter, but this was not the case. Instead, two firearms were recovered, and the shooting involved an exchange of fire between two gunmen.
Barredo stated that the gunmen “indiscriminately put vast numbers of people in danger” during the festival. Both fatalities were male, and the police have not yet disclosed the suspects' identities.

In response to the tragic event, Ontario Premier Doug Ford expressed his devastation, stating, “I am devastated by the senseless violence at the Salsa on St. Clair Festival that has claimed two lives and injured others.” Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also shared his horror on social media, offering prayers for the grieving families.
