Tottenham Hotspur has agreed to a deal worth up to £100 million ($133 million) to sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United, according to sources. The agreement, reached on July 1, 2026, involves an initial fee of £92.5 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons based on European qualifications.
Details of the Tonali Transfer
The deal marks Tottenham's second major signing in a short period, following an £85 million agreement with West Ham for Mateus Fernandes. Tonali, an Italian midfielder, is reportedly open to the move to north London, indicating that personal terms should not pose any challenges.
Previously, Tottenham's record transfer was Dominic Solanke, who joined from Bournemouth for £65 million in 2024. The club aims to bolster its squad after narrowly avoiding relegation last season, demonstrating a commitment to support head coach Roberto De Zerbi.
Transfer Market Context
As the 2026 summer transfer window progresses, Tottenham is actively reshaping its roster. They have already signed four new players, including Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton, alongside three players acquired on free transfers: Martin Dúbravka, Marcos Senesi, and Andy Robertson.
