Warner Bros. has unveiled the official trailer for Digger, a satirical black comedy directed by four-time Oscar winner Alejandro G. Iñárritu. The trailer, released on October 2, 2026, highlights Tom Cruise’s remarkable transformation into the eccentric billionaire oil baron Digger Rockwell. This marks Iñárritu's first English-language film since The Revenant.
What to Expect from Digger
The trailer presents a modern twist reminiscent of Dr. Strangelove, focusing on themes of ecological disaster. The official logline states: “The most powerful man in the world races to prove he’s humanity’s savior before the disaster he unleashed destroys everything.”
As the trailer unfolds, viewers are introduced to a narrative involving a melting iceberg and nuclear waste, raising urgent questions about environmental responsibility. Iñárritu expressed his admiration for Cruise, stating, “The transformation he went through was astonishing.”
Star-Studded Cast and Creative Vision
Digger features a talented ensemble cast including John Goodman as a geriatric US president, alongside Mercedes Hernandez as Digger’s housekeeper. The film also stars Sandra Hüller, Jesse Plemons, Riz Ahmed, Michael Stuhlbarg, Sophie Wilde, Emma D’Arcy, Robert John Burke, Burn Gorman, and Pip Torrens in undisclosed roles.
