The Hill is capitalizing on heightened reader interest surrounding the second Trump administration by launching a new digital subscription service called Hill Insider. Announced on Wednesday, this service aims to provide exclusive newsletters, live interactive video calls, and additional premium features to its readers.
In May, The Hill emerged as the most-visited digital-first news publication dedicated to politics, surpassing competitors like Politico and Axios. This Washington-based outlet, which delivers a print product three days a week to every member of Congress, has been experiencing significant growth since its acquisition by Nexstar in 2021 for $130 million.

According to Bill Sammon, the senior vice-president for editorial content at The Hill, the publication's profitability has been bolstered by the current political climate. He stated, "I think we’re kind of having a moment right now. The viewership is engaged, and a lot of it has to do with... the sheer volume of consequential stuff that’s just coming over the transom."
The new subscription service offers two membership tiers: the basic tier at $5.99 per month (or $59.99 annually) and the premium tier at $9.99 per month (or $99.99 annually). While the main website will remain free, Sammon emphasized that the new offerings are designed to add value for dedicated readers.
