Ryan Seacrest revealed on his morning radio show that he had to cancel his RSVP to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding, which took place on July 3, 2023, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Despite initially confirming his attendance, Seacrest had to back out due to a conflicting work commitment with Disney.
Seacrest's Conflict with Disney Event
During the episode of On Air With Ryan Seacrest, he shared that he was excited to attend the wedding but had to cancel after being hired by Disney to host their 4th of July 250 special on the same dates. “I RSVP’d to go, and then Disney hired me to do the 4th of July 250 special on the 3rd and the 4th, so I had to cancel,” Seacrest explained.
His co-hosts expressed their disappointment, calling it a “waste of an invite.” However, Seacrest defended his decision, stating, “It wasn’t a waste. I was actually really excited. I was kind of torn.” He emphasized that the wedding ceremony’s timing made it impossible for him to attend both events.
Seacrest's Longstanding Relationship with Swift
Ryan Seacrest has known Taylor Swift since her early career, making the cancellation even more disappointing for him. He recalled a recent encounter with the couple where they discussed their wedding plans. “We talked about ‘the event,’ because we couldn’t say it out loud,” he said. “She was like, ‘Oh, it’s going to be so much fun. We’re going to have the best time! It’s going to go late.’ I was like, ‘I cannot wait. I’m so excited.'”
