Reflecting pool algae: Understanding the challenges behind Trump's renovation efforts

The Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool in Washington, D.C., has made headlines since April when President Trump pledged to renovate it and paint it 'American flag blue' by July 4. Despite extensive cleaning and refilling, the persistent algae returned within days. Why Algae Blooms Occur
