Newcastle United has reached an agreement with Freiburg for a £51.5m deal to acquire Swiss midfielder Johan Manzambi. The 20-year-old player, who impressed during the World Cup, is set to join the Premier League club but will finalize the transfer only after Switzerland's tournament run concludes.
Manzambi, who is currently dealing with a minor knee injury, celebrated a recent goal against Canada in the World Cup. His head coach, Murat Yakin, expressed uncertainty about his recovery ahead of the quarter-final match against Argentina this Sunday.
Bruno Guimarães Not for Sale
Despite speculation surrounding the future of Bruno Guimarães, Newcastle has firmly stated that the Brazilian midfielder is not for sale. Guimarães has reportedly become unsettled at Newcastle following the departures of teammates Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon to Tottenham and Barcelona, respectively.
Although Arsenal has shown interest in Guimarães, who could see his wages nearly double in London, the club has yet to make a formal offer. If Arsenal presents a bid around £75m, Newcastle will need to make a critical decision regarding Guimarães' future.
