Manchester United are reportedly in advanced discussions to acquire Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa following a failed deal for Atalanta’s Éderson. The negotiations, led by United’s director of football Jason Wilcox, are centered around a financial package that is thought to include a £35 million release clause for the 29-year-old midfielder.
Youri Tielemans' Background and Performance
Youri Tielemans has a wealth of experience in the Premier League, having joined Leicester City from Monaco in 2019 before making a free transfer to Aston Villa four years later. He has also been a key player for the Belgian national team, earning 90 caps and captaining them during the recent World Cup, where they reached the quarter-finals before losing 2-1 to Spain.
Manchester United's Midfield Overhaul
The potential signing of Tielemans comes as United look to revamp their midfield after the departure of Casemiro. The club's management is keen on reshaping their squad, with Michael Carrick leading the charge for new signings. The initial plan included securing Éderson as a second midfield addition this summer, but that deal fell through after the player's medical.
