The funding round, led by Ribbit Capital with participation from Sequoia Capital, values the company at $500 million. Innovative Recruitment Strategy Drives Growth
Faced with the challenge of hiring over 100 engineers, CEO Alfred Wahlforss resorted to a creative strategy: a billboard featuring seemingly random numbers that were actually AI tokens. This campaign cost $5,000 and led to thousands of applicants engaging with a coding challenge inspired by the renowned Berghain nightclub in Berlin.
The challenge attracted 430 participants, some of whom were hired, while the winner received an all-expenses-paid trip to Berlin. This unconventional approach has not only filled positions but also significantly boosted the company's profile, resulting in a 15x increase in annualized revenue within nine months.

Listen Labs aims to revolutionize market research by addressing the limitations of traditional methods. Wahlforss explained, “Essentially surveys give you false precision because people end up answering the same question... You can’t get the outliers.” The platform utilizes AI to conduct in-depth interviews efficiently, providing actionable insights in hours instead of weeks.
The process involves four steps: creating a study with AI assistance, recruiting participants from a global network of 30 million, conducting interviews with an AI moderator, and delivering comprehensive reports. This method emphasizes open-ended video conversations to elicit genuine responses, contrasting with conventional multiple-choice surveys.
