An attorney for the family of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a Houston man shot and killed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, stated that the agency's account of the incident is "completely false." The attorney, Hugo Balderas-Ibarra, spoke with three individuals who were in the vehicle with Salgado Araujo during the shooting on Tuesday.
Details Surrounding the Incident
The shooting occurred in a neighborhood where ICE agents were reportedly attempting to detain individuals. According to Balderas-Ibarra, the eyewitness accounts contradict the official narrative provided by ICE. He emphasized the importance of hearing the truth from those present during the tragic event.
“The stories told by the men in the vehicle paint a different picture,” Balderas-Ibarra noted. He urged for a thorough investigation into the actions of the ICE officers involved.
Eyewitness Accounts
Balderas-Ibarra revealed that the three witnesses described the moments leading up to the shooting. They recounted how the ICE agents approached their vehicle aggressively, which led to a chaotic situation. The attorney stated, “They were terrified and confused about what was happening.”
