Justin Bieber has officially joined the star-studded lineup for the inaugural World Cup final halftime show on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The performance will feature a mix of musical legends, including Madonna, Shakira, and BTS, and will last for 11 minutes. This exciting event will raise funds for FIFA's Global Citizen Education Fund, aiming to support children's education worldwide.
Star-Studded Lineup for World Cup Halftime Show
The halftime show is set to be a groundbreaking event, showcasing a diverse array of talent. In addition to Bieber, Madonna, Shakira, and BTS, the lineup includes Burna Boy, a Nigerian singer-songwriter, and Gustavo Dudamel, a Venezuelan classical conductor. Coldplay will also feature, collaborating with the acclaimed PS22 Chorus, a choir of students from a New York public elementary school.
According to Gianni Infantino, FIFA's chief, the halftime show will be “definitely the biggest stage ever,” with an audience of “a couple of billion” expected to tune in. This unprecedented gathering of artists aims to create the largest collective effort for a charitable cause since Live Aid.
Concerns Over Halftime Show Duration
While the halftime show will be 11 minutes long, concerns have arisen regarding the impact on the game itself. The laws of football stipulate a halftime interval of “not exceeding 15 minutes,” which means that even an 11-minute performance may require an extended break to accommodate setup and teardown. Previous speculation suggested the halftime could stretch up to 25 minutes.
