Francois Letexier will officiate the highly anticipated match between Argentina and Egypt in the World Cup round of 16, taking place at the Atlanta Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, on Tuesday at 5 PM UK time. This match is crucial for both teams as they aim to secure a spot in the quarter-finals.
Letexier's Experience in International Football
Letexier, a 37-year-old French referee, is set to take charge of his third game during this tournament. Previously, he officiated the Ivory Coast's 1-0 win over Ecuador and the Cape Verde vs Saudi Arabia match that ended in a 0-0 draw. He is known for his extensive background in European football.
Notably, Letexier was the youngest referee to oversee a Euros final, where he managed Spain's victory over England two years ago. His experience extends to matches in the Champions League and last season's Europa League final, in which Aston Villa defeated Freiburg.
Supporting Officials for the Match
In addition to Letexier, the officiating team includes two fellow Frenchmen: Cyril Mugnier and Mehdi Rahmouni, who will assist from the touchlines. The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) duties will be handled by Jerome Brisard, with assistance from Willy Delajod and Hamza El Fariq from Morocco.
