On June 30, France's Green Party confronted the government in the National Assembly regarding its response to the recent heatwave. The party cited a staggering 10,000 deaths attributed to the extreme temperatures, a claim disputed by Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne. In light of this, the Greens initiated a vote of no confidence against Minister Gérald Darmanin's administration and called for a formal investigation.
Government's Response to the Heatwave
The heatwave, which struck France last week, has raised significant concerns about public health and safety. The Greens argue that the government's measures were insufficient, leading to unnecessary fatalities. They demand accountability and transparency regarding the government's actions during this crisis.
Prime Minister Borne refuted the Greens' death toll, emphasizing that the government had implemented various measures to mitigate the impact of the heat. Despite this, the Green Party remains adamant that the government has failed to protect its citizens adequately.
