A former campus police officer testified on Monday that he discovered what seemed to be a “sniper pad” on the rooftop overlooking the area where conservative activist Charlie Kirk was allegedly murdered. The testimony was presented as prosecutors aim to convince a judge to proceed with a murder trial against Tyler Robinson.
Details of the Sniper Pad Discovery
Christopher Bagley, the former officer from Utah Valley University, explained that he found the sniper pad during an investigation into Kirk's assassination. Bagley described the location as a strategic vantage point that could have been used to carry out the crime. The officer's insights are crucial as they provide context to the case against Robinson.
Bagley noted that the sniper pad was equipped with materials that suggested preparation for a long-range attack. This revelation adds a significant layer to the ongoing legal proceedings, as prosecutors work to establish a motive and method behind the alleged murder.
Prosecutors' Strategy in the Case
The prosecution aims to present a strong case against Tyler Robinson by highlighting the evidence collected during the investigation. They believe that the discovery of the sniper pad is pivotal in demonstrating premeditation in Kirk's assassination. Assistant District Attorney Mark Smith stated, “The evidence will show that this was not a random act; it was calculated.”
