FL Studio 2026 has transformed its AI chatbot, Gopher, into a more interactive assistant for music production. Released on July 9, 2026, this update allows users to seamlessly execute commands and streamline their workflow, marking a significant advancement in digital audio workstation technology.
Gopher's New Capabilities in FL Studio 2026
Initially launched as an interactive user manual, Gopher now executes specific music production tasks. For instance, users can instruct Gopher to lay down a four-on-the-floor kick and snares with gated reverb. As noted by Terrence O'Brien, a Verge editor, this functionality makes music production more efficient and user-friendly.
However, Gopher does come with limitations. It cannot create automation, insert notes or chords into tracks, or select specific presets within plugins. If you request a Rhodes electric piano sound, Gopher will create a channel with the Flex instrument but won’t locate the Rhodes patch for you. This limitation emphasizes the need for user involvement in certain creative aspects.
Flex: A Revamped Virtual Instrument
Another standout feature in FL Studio 2026 is the completely rebuilt Flex virtual instrument. Flex is designed to be a versatile tool for musicians, offering a wide range of sound packs including vintage synths and realistic guitars. The new preset browser includes improved filters and genre categories, enhancing the user experience.
