On July 13, 2026, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani began receiving condolences at Lusail Palace in Doha following the death of his father, the late Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who passed away at the age of 74. Additionally, leaders from various countries, such as Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, and Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, attended the condolence gatherings.
