On Friday, DR Congo's Minister of Communication, Patrick Muyaya, stated in an interview with FRANCE 24 that Rwanda does not demonstrate the "political will to implement" the 2025 US-brokered peace deal between the two nations. Muyaya emphasized the need for stronger international pressure on Rwanda, urging the United States to enhance its diplomatic tools.
Concerns Over Rwanda's Commitment
Muyaya's remarks reflect ongoing tensions between Rwanda and DR Congo. The peace deal, brokered by the US, aims to stabilize relations and address ongoing conflicts in the region. However, Muyaya argues that Kigali's lack of commitment undermines these efforts.
He stated, "The United States should use more tools on Rwanda (...) It's not enough yet," highlighting the perceived inadequacy of current international responses.
