Christian Pulisic has been included in the United States men's national team's starting lineup for their upcoming World Cup round-of-32 match against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, in Santa Clara, California. This marks his return after recovering from a calf injury that sidelined him during previous matches.
Pulisic, who plays for AC Milan, last started for the U.S. on June 12 against Paraguay. He was substituted at halftime due to the injury he aggravated during that match. The injury prevented him from participating in the second group stage match against Australia and limited his playtime to just 32 minutes in the final group match against Türkiye.
“I felt great in the game, the last game against Türkiye,” Pulisic stated during a press conference. “So feeling good this week and yeah, I’m definitely ready to go for [Wednesday].” His return is seen as a significant boost for the U.S. team as they aim for their second knockout win in World Cup history, with the last victory dating back to 2002.
USMNT's Lineup Changes for the Match
In addition to Pulisic, several key players are rejoining the lineup. Midfielder Tyler Adams, forward Folarin Balogun, center back Chris Richards, and left back Antonee Robinson will also be back on the field. All four players were rested in the previous match against Türkiye to avoid potential yellow card suspensions.
Coach Mauricio Pochettino has opted to revert to the same lineup that secured a convincing 4-1 victory over Paraguay in the opening match of the tournament. The only absentees due to injury are defender Mark McKenzie, who has a foot injury, and midfielder Cristian Roldan, who is dealing with a quad issue.
