Chicago Fire FC centre-back Mbekezeli Mbokazi is attracting interest from Nottingham Forest and clubs in Belgium and Italy, according to his agent, Basia Michaels of QT Sports. As of July 4, 2026, no serious offers have been made, but the Fire are willing to discuss a transfer if the right opportunity arises.
Transfer Interest in Mbokazi
Mbokazi, who joined Chicago Fire for approximately $3 million from Orlando Pirates in December, has made a strong impression in his first twelve league appearances and during the 2026 FIFA World Cup with South Africa. His performances have drawn attention from several clubs across Europe.
“Chicago Fire have come forward and we've had conversations. They are willing to sell Mbokazi and they're not going to hold him back if a suitable offer arises,” Michaels stated. The club is keen on ensuring they receive fair value for their investment in the young player.
Chicago Fire's Official Position
The club's director of football, Gregg Berhalter, emphasized that they are open to discussions regarding Mbokazi. “Like all of our players, we would be open to discussing if we saw the move was a significant sporting opportunity for the player, and support the long-term vision of the club,” he noted.
