Bournemouth has agreed to a transfer deal for Elche striker Alvaro Rodriguez valued at £25.7 million, as confirmed on July 3, 2026. The 21-year-old forward is expected to undergo a medical and sign a five-year contract at the Vitality Stadium on Monday. This deal marks a significant addition to Bournemouth's squad after their successful campaign that secured a spot in the Europa League.
Bournemouth's Ambitious Transfer Strategy
The Cherries are keen to bolster their team following a record finish in the Premier League. With former manager Andoni Iraola moving to Liverpool, Bournemouth has appointed Marco Rose, previously of RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund, to lead the squad. Rodriguez's signing will enhance the attacking options available to the coach, providing competition for current striker Evanilson.
In addition to Rodriguez, Bournemouth is also looking to sign a left-sided centre-back to strengthen their defense. The club is open to selling Enes Unal, the Turkish forward, should a suitable offer arise. This proactive approach aims to ensure a more stable transfer window compared to the previous year when several key players departed.
Financial Implications of the Transfer
Bournemouth's deal for Rodriguez consists of an initial fee of £21.4 million, which could rise to £25.7 million with performance-related add-ons. Notably, Real Madrid will receive 50% of any future transfer fee due to their previous sale of Rodriguez to Elche. The Uruguayan forward, who has also represented the Spain youth teams, scored seven goals and provided five assists in 34 La Liga appearances last season.
