The Beatbot AquaSense X, launched recently, introduces a self-cleaning feature for pool cleaning robots. This innovative device, paired with the AstroRinse station, aims to streamline pool maintenance. However, its hefty price tag of $4,250 raises questions about its value for consumers.
Self-Cleaning Pool Technology
The AquaSense X robot is not entirely self-cleaning; it requires the AstroRinse station, which weighs 42 pounds. This station not only cleans the robot’s debris filter but also charges it. Users must navigate a complex setup process, including connecting hoses and power supply, which can take up to half an hour.
Setting up the AstroRinse involves:
- Attaching the cleaning arm to the chassis
- Connecting water input and drainage hoses
- Ensuring a stable power supply
For optimal operation, the AstroRinse must be placed near a water source, which may require additional hoses or extension cords.
Cleaning Performance and User Experience
In testing, the AquaSense X performed well on pool floors, achieving an average of 97% debris removal. However, its surface cleaning was less effective, capturing under 50% of floating debris. Users may find the AquaSense X’s performance on steps and platforms commendable, but its slow speed limits its surface cleaning efficiency.
