The 2027 Skulptur Projekte Münster will explore themes of communal cooking and power dynamics in the historic German town. Scheduled to kick off on June 12, 2027, this edition marks the first without founder Kasper König, who passed away in 2024. The exhibition will showcase works from notable artists including Oscar Murillo, Selma Selman, and Hew Locke.
Curatorial Vision and Themes
This sixth iteration is curated by the collective What, How & for Whom / WHW, comprising Ivet Ćurlin, Nataša Ilić, and Sabina Sabolović. They aim to investigate the accessibility of Münster, emphasizing participation, inclusion, and community. WHW stated, “We want to shed light on the many ‘cities within the city’.”
Over 30 artists will participate, with five announced so far. The exhibition promises to highlight marginalized perspectives and shared narratives, connecting various experiences to Münster.
Featured Artists and Installations
Among the participating artists, Oscar Murillo will create a work focused on “communal cooking and collective sharing,” in collaboration with local crop producers at the former Officer's Casino. Meanwhile, Hew Locke will address colonialism at the Haus der Niederlande, a site of historical significance.
